Congress Does Not Ratify the Royal Decree-Law of Urgent Measures in Housing and Rent

This decision means that lease agreements signed as of January 23 will be governed by the regulations in force until December 19, 2018

In the parliamentary session on Tuesday, the Congress of Deputies voted against ratifying the Royal Decree-Law, of December 14, 2018, on urgent measures in the housing and rental sector, which included a set of provisions of an urgent nature to improve access to housing and encourage affordable rent.

The leases signed during the term of the Royal Decree-Law will remain in force as per the temporary regulation that was applicable between the approval of the said Decree-Law and the non-ratification of it by the Congress of Deputies.

The Royal Decree-Law was published in the Official State Bulletin last December.
